Oracle Applications ( Installation on Linux 4

Oracle Application Installation

1) Install Required RPM

Required RPM’s

Use following commands after downloading

rpm -ivh compat-oracle-rhel4-1.0-5.i386.rpm
rpm -ivh compat-libcwait-2.1-1.i386.rpm

2) setup Hostname & i/p Address in Linux Box

setup hostname & I/p address

vi /etc/hosts

add entry ip_Address hostname.domainname hostname

like acer

Once after changing restart network

service network restart

check all i/p & hostname by using following commands

hostname -f         (for full name)

hostname -d       (for domain name)

hostname -i          (for i/p address)

2) add user applmgr & oracle and create group

issue the following commands

groupadd dba

useradd -g dba oracle

useradd -g dba applmgr

verify this in /etc/passwd & /etc/groups

3) Add kernal parameters in /etc/sysctl.conf

kernel.shmall = 268435456
kernel.sem = 250 256000 100 1024
fs.file-max = 6815744
net.ipv4.ip_local_port_range = 9000 65500
net.core.rmem_default = 262144
net.core.wmem_default = 262144
net.core.rmem_max = 4194304
net.core.wmem_max = 1048576
fs.aio-max-nr = 1048576

once after changing issue the command sysctl -p

4)add this entrys in /etc/security/limits.conf

oracle soft nofile 65536
oracle hard nofile 65536
oracle soft nproc 16384
oracle hard nproc 16384

5) Prepare Linux partitions with sufficient spaces

in my case


Provide the ownership to mount points

chown -R applmgr:dba /ORACLE_ALL
chown -R oracle:dba /ORACLE_APPS

6) Start Installation by using rapidwiz

login as root & issue command

cd /Stage11i/startCD/Disk1/rapidwiz/

The Rapid Installation Wizard installation is shown below.

1. Click the “Next” button on the welcome screen.

Select the “No” option, then click the “Next” button.

Select the “Single-node” option, then click the “Next” button.

Select the “fresh database” database type, enter a database name, in this case I used “APPS11I”, then click the “Next” button.

Select The Mount Point in which Your Database shud insttall in my case ORACLE_ALL

Select E-Business suite Licensing and click Next

Select the appropriate country functionality, then click the “Next” button.

Select any additional language support if necessary, then click the “Next” button.

Select Mount Point where all u r product shud install .. in my case ORACLE_APP

Check U r LINUX Box Details prior u r instalations and then Next

This Is the Cnfiguration file which has all instalation details & can be used if instalation is fails.

Once After Completion of all settings Rapidwiz will check the system utilities check to contiune instalation

Once after successful checking of system, utilities then proceed for EBS 11i Instalations select YES

Instalation will done in 5 steps
1)   ( software will be Installed)
2)  ( 9i databse will be created & configured)
3)   (8.1.7 ORACCLE_HOME will be Installed)
4)    (8.0.6 oracle home will be installed)
5)autoconfig     (will configure entire application )
——————————————————————————————–   ( software will be Installed)
—————————————————————- ( 9i databse will be created & configured)
—————————————————————————- (8.1.7 ORACCLE_HOME will be Installed)
———————————————————————————- (8.0.6 oracle home will be installed)

Autoconfig will comnfigure the tnire application tier and start the services

Once after Succesful instalation rapidwiz  check the application services details

Click the “Finish button to exit the Rapid Install Wizard.

This Completes Instalation & need to configure db & apps env

Sourcing environment files after Installation


Go to Folowing location and find the .env file

[applmgr@acer apps11iappl]$ pwd

[applmgr@acer apps11iappl]$ ls -lrt APPSAPPS11I_acer.env
-rw-r–r– 1 applmgr dba 993 Jun  6 11:14 APPSAPPS11I_acer.env

write this entry in .bash_profile of applmgr

Add The following entrys in  .bash_profile of oracle

This complete the Instalation and configuration
